Shen Hongbing meets with WHO representative to China
Shen Hongbing, vice-minister of the National Health Commission and administrator of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration (NDCPA), met with Martin Taylor, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative to China, in Beijing on May 6. The pair discussed deepening cooperation in the field of disease control and prevention.

Shen said China and WHO have long maintained a sound and productive partnership. He said China will continue to support WHO in playing a leading and coordinating role in global health governance and remains committed to supporting the organization's reform efforts.
Shen expressed the hope that the two sides would explore and promote more pragmatic cooperation in the future to contribute to the health and well-being of people in China and around the world.
Taylor commended China for its steadfast support for multilateralism and expressed WHO's continued commitment to supporting China in advancing high-quality development in public health and disease prevention. He also welcomed further sharing of China's development experience through WHO platforms.
The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of disease control and agreed to enhance collaboration in key areas such as health security, prevention and control of major infectious diseases, climate change and health, immunization programs, and the prevention of childhood and adolescent obesity.
Officials from the NDCPA's Department of Comprehensive Affairs, Department of Health and Expanded Program on Immunization, and Department of Science, Technology, Education and International Cooperation attended the meeting.
